Description: It was well known to the ancient Egyptians who buried large numbers of the fruits in the
tombs of their pharaos.
It is a palm with multiple ramifications that can reach heights of 15 m and diameters of 25 cm, with a dark
grey and smooth trunk. Its fruits are brown, shiny drupes when mature; they are smooth and prismatic, and
contain a very hard grain. The weight of the fruit is 130-150 g.
Uses: It is mainly used for ornamental purposes.
Germination: The grains germinate easily; the tree bears its first fruits at the age of 6-8.
